Latest Information about Novel Coronavirus Cases in China

On March 9, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections, 36 new cases of suspected infections, and 17 deaths (all in Hubei province). 1,297 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,148 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Severe cases decreased by 317.

As of 24:00 on March 9, the National Health Commission had received 80,754 reports of confirmed cases and 3,136 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 59,897 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 17,721 confirmed cases (including 4,794 severe cases) and 349 suspected cases. So far, 675,338 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,982 are now under medical observation.

On March 9, Hubei reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (all in Wuhan), 13 new cases of suspected infections (12 in Wuhan), and 17 deaths (including 16 in Wuhan). 1,152 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 896 in Wuhan.

As of 24:00 on March 9, Hubei had reported 67,760 cases of confirmed infections (including 49,965 in Wuhan) and 3,024 deaths (including 2,404 in Wuhan). In all, 47,585 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 31,829 in Wuhan. There still remained 17,151 confirmed cases (including 15,732 in Wuhan), with 4,701 severe cases (including 4,471 in Wuhan), and 246 suspected cases (including 230 in Wuhan).

On March 9, the Chinese mainland reported 2 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangdong province). As of 24:00 on March 9, the Chinese mainland had reported 69 imported confirmed cases from overseas.

As of 24:00 on March 9, 170 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 115 in Hong Kong (3 had been dead and 60 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 45 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 15 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
