Latest Information about Novel Coronavirus Cases in China

On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 10 in Shaanxi province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province and 2 in Liaoning province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 15 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,123 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,972 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,766 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 206 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,521 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,681 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 206 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 838,668 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,924 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 357 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 355 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 5,731 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,161 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,890 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 524 in Taiwan (7 had died and 487 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
