On Oct 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Fujian province and 2 in Chongqing municipality), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 15 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 804 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Oct 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,185 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,948 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 237 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,747 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,865 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 248 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 848,666 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,118 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 22, 403 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 402 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 22, 5,874 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,280 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,019 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 548 in Taiwan (7 had died and 497 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
