State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi Had Phone Calls with Foreign Ministers of Hungary, Greece and Morocco

On 20 March, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had phone calls with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita.

Wang said that China is following closely the COVID-19 outbreak at multiple places and its rapid spread on a global scale. China feels for the three countries and extends wholehearted solidarity to their peoples facing the difficulties caused by the epidemic. The Chinese people will stand firmly by them in tiding over this trying time.

Wang expressed China's gratitude to the three countries for their invaluable support for China's epidemic response. Despite a still large demand for medical supplies to forestall the resurgence of infections at home, China will try its best to help with the three countries' purchase and fast-track customs clearance and delivery of those materials. China will also donate essential medical supplies, share response experience and send medical expert teams to help countries affected by the disease. He expressed confidence that with concerted efforts of the global community, mankind will defeat this virus.

Szijjártó expressed Hungry's respect to the way in which China has overcome the epidemic resolutely and effectively. Hungry is grateful for China's timely assistance of medical supplies and facilitation of its purchase of those materials from China. Such mutual support and help is a symbol of true and sincere friendship between the two countries.

Dendias said that the bravery and unity of the Chinese people in battling the outbreak is truly admirable and expressed gratitude for China's provision of the much needed medical equipment to Greece at such difficult hours caused by this unprecedented challenge. Greece also appreciates China's readiness to help meet its purchasing needs for medical supplies.

Bourita thanked the Chinese side for extending sympathies to the people of Morocco, and spoke highly of China's support to the country. He said that China has set a prime example for the international community in epidemic control. Morocco hopes to learn from China's experience and looks forward to closer exchanges and cooperation with Chinese medical experts.
