Chinese communities in South Africa donate to help poor children in Emdeni Secondary School on International Children's Day

The Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg and over 30 Chinese community associations donated on the International Children's Day to Emdeni Secondary School based in Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa. Chinese Consul General Sun Dali, Speaker of of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Ntombi Mekgwe and Council Speaker of the city of Joburg Constance Bapela attended the donation ceremony.

Chinese Consul General Sun Dali commended the local Chinese communities for their continuous efforts in helping the needed and encouraged them to contribute more to the charity. Speaker Mekgwe thanked the Chinese Consulate General and the Chinese communities on behalf of the South African side.

Over 300 students at Emdeni Secondary School received donations, including clothes, shoes, blankets and food packages with a total worth of over 300,000 rands.

This marks the 9th large-scale donation from the Chinese communities to the local communities or schools since 2004. The Chinese community living in South Africa has been paying special attention to underdeveloped communities in South Africa and caring for students in different schools.
